The Enugu State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Enugu has fixed July 7, to begin trial in the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) and its governorship candidate, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, challenging the declaration of PDP’s Peter Mbah as winner of March 18, 2023 election.
In the continuation of pretrial proceedings on Saturday, the Petitioners were present, while the 3rd Respondent was represented.
Ifeanyi Ogenyi, Esq appeared with other counsels for the Petitioners.
H.I Okoli Esq appeared for the 1st Respondent; P.M.B Onyia Esq appeared for the 2nd Respondent, while Tochukwu Maduka SAN, appeared for the 3rd Respondent.
Ruling on Interrogatories was delivered and the application was refused.
The tribunal held that the answers sought by way of Interrogatories can be elicited from 2nd Respondent’s witnesses under cross examination.
The tribunal also issued its report on pre-hearing session.
The tribunal gave 7 days, 2 days, and 4 days to the Petitioners, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Respondents respectively to call their witnesses.
The Tribunal also ordered both parties to file and exchange Schedule of documents to be relied upon at trial within 24 hours from Saturday, June 24.
