The camp of the Labour Party in Anambra State are in jubilant mood following the defection of some members of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the party in the state.
This is happening barely three months after the conduct of the 2023 general election in the state.
Some members of the APGA in Awka Ward II were ably received upon defection by the member representing Awka South 1 State Constituency, Hon Henry Mbachu, into the Labour Party.
The event which took place in Ezinato Village Hall Ifite Awka had Honourable Henry Mbachu and his entourage in attendance.
The Chairman of Labour Party Awka Ward II, Chief Christopher Chukunenye Attah, thanked the legislator for his efforts in integrating more members into the party.
“Our party members will ensure that everyone will be accommodated,” he stated.
While inaugurating the decampees as members of the party, Hon Mbachu expressed gladness in their desire to join the ‘OBIDIENT MOVEMENT.’
“I resigned as a Lecturer from Anambra State Polytechnic, because of the zeal I have for the betterment of the constituency.
The collective effort of everyone in Awka and Okpuno irrespective of party affiliations will give rise to development within the constituency,” he reiterated.
Some of those that decamped were Hon. Echezona Nwibe former APGA House of assembly aspirant; Mrs Eleti, (APGA Woman leader ward II); and a host of many others.
