There was pandemonium in Enugu metropolis on Wednesday morning following rumours making the rounds that the enforcers of sit-at-home in Ebonyi State on Tuesday had entered Enugu.
The rumour, though unconfirmed caused serious panic in the city and it’s suburbs causing residents to run helter-skelter for fear of the unknown.
Ikengaonline reports that the panic running began from Emene, Abakpa Nike and immediately spread to New Heaven, Artisan, Campus Gate.
It was also understood that there was sounds of gunshots at some areas including Kenyatta, Artisan and Old Park areas.
According to reports schools, banks, markets and other public institutions that opened for businesses have hurriedly closed their operations.
However, other reports say that there was sporadic shootings at Liberty park area of Abakpa Nike by suspected hoodlums but they were quickly repelled by soldiers.
As at the time of filling this report there has neither been any official reaction from the state government nor security operatives.
