With the latest feat, the heroic Falcons advanced to the knockout stage with 5 points garnered from two draws and one win.
The Super Falcons shared points with the Republic of Ireland to progress to the round of 16 following a draw against Canada and a stunning win against co-host, Australia.
Before the game, Nigeria led Group B with four points and a goal difference ahead of Canada who also had the same number of points. Australia was third with three points.
But Australia topped Group B with six points after walloping Canada 4-0 to guarantee a place in the round of 16.
The Super Falcons have remained in high spirit, and could emerge victorious considering their brilliant performances so far.
Meanwhile, the Copper Queens of Zambia, earlier on Monday, thrashed Costa Rica 3-1 to record their first ever goal and win at the on-going FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Zambia which is one of the debutants at the female tournament, was drawn alongside Japan, Spain, and Costa Rica in group C.
Two first-half goals from Lushomo Mweemba and Barbra Banda pushed Zambia on victory path.
Costa Rica, however, cancelled one goal in the second half when midfielder Melissa Herrera pushed the ball behind the net.
A late strike from Racheal Kundananji secured a perfect win for the African side.
The win secured all three points for Zambia in their first ever campaign.
Zambia became the third African country to win at the 2023 World Cup after Nigeria’s 3-2 win against Australia and Morocco’s 1-0 win over South Korea.
So far, South Africa is Africa’s only representative without a win.
