Police nab suspected vandals in Imo

The Imo State Police Command says it has apprehended three people involved in looting of medical equipment and property of Imo State University Teaching Hospital Nursery Primary (IMSUTH), Orlu.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command ASP Henry Okoye made this known in a press release on behalf of the Commissioner for Police CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde.
The release noted that the arrest was made by men of Orlu Divisional Headquarters, sequel to a series of complaints of vandalism of the hospital equipment by hoodlums at night.
The release stated that “the tactical team deployed, apprehended 21-year-old Kelechukwu Nwode, ‘M’, of Ukwuinyima in Ikwo LGA in Ebonyi State, in the very act while others took to their heels.”
The suspect, Mr Nwode furnished the police with information that led to the arrest of the other members of his syndicate 28 years old Jeremiah of Ibiasoegbe, Oru-West LGA and 44 year old Paul Okeke of Umudara Amaifeke,
who were at large.
Some of the items recovered from the vandals include: “a tricycle, large quantity of copper wire, sid big iron rod, one cylinder, one generator, some scraps, one air condition compressor, among others.”
“Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde, commended the DPO of Orlu Division for a job well done, and reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring maximum safety of the life and properties of the good people of the state”, the statement added.
