Security operatives have allegedly shot dead a trader at Timber and Allied Industrial Market Naze in Owerri,
Report says the victim, identified as Mr. Ebere Chibuike, who hails from Onicha in Ezinihitte Local Government Area of the state, was hit by a stray bullet fired by an unidentified security operative.
According to an eye witness, the trader was shot when the security agencies attempted to arrest some traders in the market but were resisted by other traders.
The incident caused uproar in the market as traders went out on the road, protesting the killing.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Henry Okoye, when contacted, said information gathered by the force says the deceased was not shot by the police.
“The DPO in charge of the area has since been mobilised to the scene for on-the-spot analysis and discreet investigation,” Mr. Okoye said.
The Imo PPRO However noted that the Command is yet to receive an official report and promised to relay any information once gotten.
