Barely 24 hours after the military seized power in Gabon, the coup leaders have named General Brice Nguema as the Transitional President of the country.
The announcement was made via the television by the coupists on Wednesday.
“General Oligui Nguema Brice was unanimously appointed chairman of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions, chairman of the transition,” declared an officer in the presence of dozens of senior officers, according to the press release read out on Gabon 24.
There has been a wave of military coup in Africa in the recent times.
ECOWAS has threatened to invade Niger Republic following a coup d’etat recently.
