Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has called on those living in the riverine communities to start now to relocate upland where they will be safe to avoid being taken unawares by flood.
The Governor who spoke in the last edition of his Radio and Television Programme, “Chat with Mr Governor,” noted that his government has already made provisions for their safety and upkeep should any flood disaster take place.
He said that it is not their fault that they are affected by floods, especially since the Federal Government has not built any dam yet, but it will be their fault if they experience any calamity as a result of not taking the right steps at the right time.
The Governor who called for togetherness and unity of purpose, urged people of the state to be conscious of the fact that a livable Anambra state is important.
He charged every Anambra resident to be involved in making the state a better place by contributing their own quota, no matter how little.
He also advised the people to give necessary information regarding insecurity to the authorities for necessary action.
