It was drama in Enugu on Thursday when two cabinet members of Governor Peter Mbah showed up to represent him at the 2023 World Teachers Day celebration at the Okpara Square Enugu.
Ikengaonline reports that the drama started when the Master of Ceremony (MC) first announced that the governor was approaching the event venue.
After some time the MC announced that the governor had sent the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Chidiebere Onyia to stand-in for him.
But shortly after the announcement of Onyia as the governor’s representative, the Commissioner of Education, Professor Ndubueze Mbah, came in to inform that he was the governor’s representative at the event.
At this juncture, the MC announced the official commencement of the event with the national anthem and NUT anthem, followed by the breaking of kolanut.
However, while the event was on, the SSG arrived the venue as the governor’s representative.
Incidentally, the Commissioner stayed glued to his seat and the SSG, sensing that the authority to represent governor Mbah was no longer in his hands, hurriedly left unsung.
There was unconfirmed report that all were not well within the corridors of power in Enugu State.
Sources from the Lion Building say that some appointees of the governor wield more influence than others.
