The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has ruled out the possibility of the ‘Obidient’ Movement influencing the next governorship election that will be held in Anambra state in 2025.
Speaking to journalists in Awka, Anambra State capital, APGA Chairman, Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, ruled out the possibility of the ‘Obidients’ group affecting the upcoming election, noting that the movement was only tied around an emotion of electing the president of Nigeria.
Obi-Okoye said: “There will be no ‘Obidient’ movement in the Anambra governorship election because that movement was tied around an emotion to become president of Nigeria. It had nothing to do with Peter Obi as a person.”
“At that point in time the Igbos felt it was their turn, rightly or wrongly. It has come and it has gone, and that factor can never come into play again in the next governorship election.”
According to him, the candidate being projected as the possible governorship standard-bearer of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2025 guber poll in the state had been synonymous with losing elections.
He said, ”By Labour candidate you mean Valentine Ozigbo, is it not? Unfortunately, that name has become synonymous with losing elections. If he contests, he will be contesting against his homeboy from Aguata (Soludo).
“So, I can say the Obidient man, APGA has beaten him twice. We beat him when he brought a man from Ogbaru, Oseloka Obaze, and we beat him again when he brought Val Ozigbo.
“Whether Governor Soludo will contest or not, we will not put him in the radar yet, until that time comes. We have also told him as a party to please concentrate on his good governance.”
