The Police Commissioner in Enugu State, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered investigation into alleged professional misconduct by some Police officers in Nsukka town, Enugu State Nigeria.
This followed social media reports alleging unprofessional conduct by some police officers in Nsukka town, in Nsukka Local Government Area of the state.
A statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said the CP has directed the State CID Enugu, to immediately commence “a meticulous investigation that will lead to appropriate disciplinary sanctions against any of the police officers found wanting.”
According to the release, CP Uzuegbu while calling for calm, urged victims of the acts of police misconduct to come forward and volunteer evidence that could aid the timely conclusion of the investigation and further police disciplinary actions.
He said: “The CP reaffirmed his unwavering stance against unethical conduct by the police and reassured of maximum protection of the rights of citizens in accordance with existing laws.
“He further, enjoined the people to support the Police Reform Agenda by remaining law-abiding and promptly reporting acts of police misconduct in the State for necessary disciplinary actions.
