Ben Ezechime, Enugu
The Supreme Court of Nigeria sitting in Abuja has confirmed Dr Peter Mbah as duly elected Governor of Enugu State in the March 18 Governorship election.
Delivering Judgement on the Appeal brought by the Labour Party (LP) and its candidate Barrister Jonathan Edeoga, against the declaration of Mbah by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Apex Court dismissed the appeal and upheld the earlier judgment of the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos.
According to Justice Mohammed Garba, who wrote and delivered the lead judgment, he described as mere allegation that Mbah did not posses the National Youth Service Corp certificate, which is one of the certificate he tendered to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
In his reaction the commissioner for Information in the state, Aka Eze Aka, called on the opposition to join hands with Mbah to make the state better.
According to him, “it calls for celebration.”
