Mr Steve Odo, immediate past General Manager (GM), Enugu State Tourism Board has congratulated Gov. Peter Mbah on his victory at the Supreme Court.
In an interview in Enugu on Saturday, Odo said the victory had finally put to rest the controversies surrounding the March 18 governorship election in the state.
According to him: “I congratulate Gov. Mbah for emerging victorious at the Supreme Court; at least, he can now concentrate on delivering on his campaign promises.”
The tourism and hospitality expert said the governor can now begin to implement his various programmes, some of which he had started such as water scheme and roads construction and rehabilitation.
Odo said he sees Mbah as someone who has come to work for the state, going by his various initiatives and called on residents of Enugu to join hands with him to develop the state.
“From what we have seen so far, he appeared to be desperate to work and I think that the only way to encourage him to work is to join hands with him,” he said.
He advised the governor to take a serious interest in the development of tourism and hospitality in the state, adding that if well harnessed tourism could take Enugu economy to greater heights.
“I know what I am saying because it is my area and I did a lot in that field; so, I know what I am saying.
“He should take tourism very seriously because Enugu State has so much tourism potentials that need to be harnessed to shore up her Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
“I also encourage the governor to spread his hands to welcome anybody who wants to genuinely work for the state,” Odo said.
The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday, December 22, affirmed the declaration of Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the duly elected governor of Enugu State in the March 18 election.
This followed an Appeal filled by the Labour Party and its governorship candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, challenging the declaration of the PDP as winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
