The traditional ruler of Ojoto in Idemili North Council Area, His Royal Majesty Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, has apologised to the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, for flouting the code of conduct guiding the confernment of chieftaincy titles in the state.
The monarch tendered the apology while briefing newsmen in his palace at Ojoto, yesterday.
He said: “I sincerely tender unreserved apology to governor Chukwuma Soludo for conferment of chieftaincy title on some worthy citizens of the state during my recent Ofala without first forwarding the names of the recipients to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters for approval.
“It was not done intentionally. I was just installed five years ago as a king and I have not been privileged to attend state traditional council meeting because the attendance is by selection. In order words, my action was not in tandem with the stipulated code of conduct guiding conferment of chieftaincy title in the state.
“Myself as a traditional ruler, part of my duties is to enforce the laws of the state and do things that will benefit all Anambrarians and also to maintain law and order in my community. Now, I have known the code of conducts and I will not make the mistake again. I, therefore, publicly apologise to the governor as I regret the action and promise to do the needful next time as such will not be repeated or reoccur again.”
