The worsening economic situation and biting hunger in the land has taken a dangerous turn as a man from Isuochi in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, shot dead his own son for allegedly eating the only remaining cooked food in the kitchen.
Shocked by the strange action the man was promptly arrested by members of the community who tied him hands and feet, and forced him to lie on top of his late son also lying face-down in the pool of his blood.
In a viral video, people were observed raining curses on the suspect for the abominable act, describing him as evil.
They wondered what would have made him to contemplate killing his own son just for eating ordinary cooked food in the house.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Maureen Chinaka, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
The PPRO, added that the suspect had been taken into custody, and the matter transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Umuahia, for proper investigations.
