…Donate 6 months salary

Labour Party, LP, caucus members in Anambra State House of Assembly have told the Federal and State governments to suspend work on all other sectors including infrastructure for the next six months and declare state of emergency on security and hunger in the nation.
The LP Anambra numbering eight in a Press briefing on Thursday in Awka said both governments should concentrate on solving the challenges of hunger in the land.
The spokesperson of the group and House member representing Onitsha South 2 Hon. Jude Ifeanyi Umennajiego, said the caucus has donated its six months basic salary to cushion the suffering of the People.
According to him, the donation is part of their contribution to alleviate the suffering of the masses.
Speaking further, Umennajiego said government cannot be building structures while people are dying of hunger. He called on both the Federal and State governments to suspend all other infrastructural works and face the challenges of hunger and insecurity in the land.
“Federal and State governments should suspend work on all other sectors including infrastructure for the next six months and declare state of emergency on security and hunger in the nation.
“The state governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, should also suspend all infrastructural development in various parts of the State for the next six months and declare state of emergency on security and hunger.
“We all know that campaign is over and election is over. Majority of Nigerians are suffering. People are dying everyday as a result of hunger and insecurity.
“We, the Labour Party House of Assembly members will relinquish our basic salary for six months to be our contribution to alleviate the suffering of the masses.”
