Anambra State Government has declared total war against the unlawful activities of touts on the streets of the state.
The Director of Operations, Special Anti-Tout Squad (SASA), Mr Solomon Onwuemene, disclosed this in Awka, the State capital on Tuesday.
Onwuemene’s comments came on the heels of public criticism of the SASA squad in the state after allegedly brutalising one Wilfred Ezike, an alleged notorious thug, in the state.
However, he said that no amount of pressure from the public would stop them to succumb or compromise in thier efforts geared towards achieving their mandates for the people in line with Governor Soludo’s guidelines.
He also noted that their major mandate remains to restore sanity on the streets across the state.
Onwuemene assured that his office was strongly committed in getting rid of touts in the state for the benefit of the masses.
He added that the State Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Chief Chikodi Anara; and the Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Security matters, Sir Chukwurah Nelson Amaechi, had further mandated him and his squad to ensure that the activities of the touts in the state “are completely stamped out.”
