The political crisis rocking Rivers State, yesterday took a sudden twist as Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has vowed to expose his estranged godfather and predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Fubara revealed that most of the projects constructed and inaugurated by Wike, were not fully paid for.
The Governor who said he had been patient enough, regretted that the state was indebted to many contractors awarded contracts by Wike.
Fubara said that the firms Wike is owing are after his government for their payment.
The embattled Fubara spoke while inaugurating Ebubu-Aleto-Eteo in Eleme Local Government Area of the State.
Ikengaonline reports that Fubara invited Gov. Alex Otti of Abia State to inaugurate the multi-billion Naira project project.
This has fuelled speculations that Fubara may join the Labour Party in 2027 if his feud with Wike were not resolved before then.
Fubara who said he had been pushed to the wall by Wike, regretted that the major headache of his administration was how to clear the mountain of debt incurred by Wike’s government.
He said his administration would remain transparent in its dealings, adding that every contract has a white paper indicating its cost.
“For the records it was awarded to CCECC. It was awarded on the 14th of August by this Administration. As we are going further, we will be going with a white paper to show records and amount. The Project was awarded at the cost of N6.7 billion. I can say boldly that we have paid the contractor completely.
“The purpose of this is to let the world know that if there is one problem this administration has, it is debt. Most of the projects that are being commissioned they are coming for their balance payment and it’s running into millions and billions.
“I have said I don’t want to talk. I don’t want to talk because I am part of that system but when you keep pushing me, I will say it so that they will see the y**sh of the fowl.”
Recall that 25 lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Wike have been plotting to impeach the Governor while the Governor insists that they have ceased to be lawmakers in the state having abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that brought them to power, and defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
