Nollywood megastar, Patience Ozokwor, was one of the illustrious members unveiled as the first-ever football club foundation in Nigeria, Rangers International F.C. Foundation, conceptualised by the General/CEO of the club, Mr Amobi Ezeaku, was inaugurated on Monday, in Enugu.
The foundation has Prince Arthur Eze as its grand patron.
The Foundation to be led by CSP Ebere Amaraizu as chairman with other well-meaning Nigerians both within and in the diaspora, was inaugurated inside the boardroom of the club’s corporate headquarters in Enugu.
While inaugurating the foundation Barrister Amobi Ezeaku thanked members for their positive disposition towards the success of the foundation.
He described the coming to fruition of the Rangers Foundation as a thing of joy to the management of the club as it formed one part of the strategic plans of the club to make it a global brand and touch the lives of people in many positive ways.
“We are here today, to officially inaugurate the Rangers Foundation. We don’t need to go to town to understand what a football club foundation would do especially for a club as significant and historic as Rangers International Football Club.
“Note that when we came on board last August, we rolled out our strategic plans and the third arm of our strategic plans was community social impact.
“Under the CSI comes the Rangers Foundation. People who form part of this foundation are prominent Nigerians, men, and women who have made a great mark in their areas of endeavours.
“It is our strong belief that we shall positively impact the lives of people in many ways,” stated the young club boss.
Also speaking, the chairman of the foundation, Amaraizu, thanked the club management for coming up with the noble idea of setting up a foundation.
“That is the way to go for every positive thinking and result-oriented football club.
“What we did today is a great milestone never attained by any club side within the shores of the nation and we, members of the Rangers Foundation, would do all in our power to make the project to succeeds.
“We are condemned to make it a success as the foundation’s impact would soon be felt in various strata of the society both within and outside of the country,” Amaraizu said.
The inaugurated Rangers International F.C. Foundation members include: Nollywood megastar, Mrs. Patience Ozokwor; Ejike Uzoenyi; Brigadier-General Stanley Eze (Rtd); Dr. Sam Onyishi; Chief (Sen.) Jim Nwobodo; Emeka Oparaji; Barr. Tony Ugwu; former Super Eagles captain and football maestro, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha; Okoh Emmanuel (Okwuluora); Engr. Ben Ejindu; Gen. Victor Ezugwu (Rtd.); Chief Festus Onuh; Rev. Fr. Augustine Ewulu; and Miss Chiege Ugwuozor.
The event was witnessed by major football stakeholders in the state, the sporting media, as well as top management staff of the corporation.
