The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have shutdown the Enugu State government secretariat and have been going round the state to ensure full enforcement of the ongoing strike.
According to our correspondent: “The State Secretariat is currently under lock while the team went to the Ministry of Lands and chased out workers who were there before locking the gate.”
The state NLC Chairman, Comrade Fabian Nwigbo, said the team was heading to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu to stall any envisaged activities there.
He said there was nationwide power outage as workers were chased out of the National grid by National Union of Electricity Workers.
Nwigbo advised workers to “stay at home to ensure the success of the strike to enable the government yield to Labour’s demands.”
Offices also locked by labour include, the AG’s office,Water Corporation and ESWAMA.
The enforcement continues just as NLC chairman has appealed to affiliate unions to help out in the enforcement as the leaders go round to monitor adherence.
