Commissioner for Agriculture, Abia State, Professor Monica Ironkwe; and her Science and Technology counterpart, Chima Oriaku, have been reportedly sacked by Governor Alex Otti.
This alleged sacking of the Commissioners was contained in a trending social media report.
But the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ukoha Njoku, when contacted, said they were not sacked but resigned from the cabinet.
He, however, did not adduce any reasons for their resignation.
There is also no official statement yet on the development.
Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, promised to react on the matter as he said he was in a meeting when contacted.
This is happening about one month after the Commissioner for Health, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo, was suspended for “gross misconducts” according to Government.
A panel was also set up to investigate her alleged “gross misconduct” but the outcome of the findings of the panel chaired by the Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, is yet to be made public.
Recall that Gov. Otti had while inaugurating the Commissioners, warned that his administration had zero tolerance for corruption.
