FCID, traditional rulers to strengthen collaborations on security in S/East, S/South

The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Enugu, has sought partnership with traditional rulers in Enugu State to strengthen community relations and address security concerns within the South-East and South-South geo-political zones.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in-charge of the FCID Annex Enugu, Dali Kwazhi, made the plea when he paid a courtesy call to the Chairman of Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Ikechukwu Asadu, in his palace at Ogwugwu, Nsukka.
Kwazhi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the chairman and other traditional rulers, while emphasising the importance of mutual cooperation in maintaining peace and security.
The AIG also stressed on several key security issues, including the need for improved synergy and collaboration between the traditional institutions and security agencies.
According to him, this meeting is meant to explore potential partnerships between the police and traditional rulers as well as local abd community organizations to promote safety awareness and crime prevention.
“The FCID Annex primary aim is to foster a collaborative approach to enhancing public safety and addressing security challenges within the community.
“As leaders and respected royal fathers, the FCID appeals for optimal synergy and collaboration as well as timely security information, which will be treated witg confidentiality,” he said.
Resonding, Asadu, who is also known as Ogadagidi one, assured the FCID of the cooperation of the royal fathers and other leaders to aid its mandate.
“You have taken the right step by identifying with us and I will assure you of our support and partnership always,” the chairman said.
In a related development, Kwazhi also made a familiarisation visit to the immediate past Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu, at his home in Enugu.
The AIG stressed the significance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activities and supporting police efforts.
The courtesy calls concluded on a positive note, with parties agreeing to maintain open lines of communication and work together to ensure the safety and security of residents of Enugu State and by extension South-East and South-South regions of the country.
It would be recalled that Kwazhi, until his recent appointment as AIG in-charge of FCID Annex, Enugu, had worked in various capacities and held various positions in various departments of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
He had traversed the length and breadth of Nigeria and the globe in the course of his policing duties.
Having distinguished himself with his sterling performance in Nigeria, the NPF deemed it fit to loan this dexterous police officer to the global community for specialised global assignments where he amassed various awards for excellent performance by the United Nations.
Kwazhi, being a stickler for personal training and capacity development, had attended several international courses in different contents including the FBI in the US and Centre of Excellence for Police Stability Units (CoESPU) Vicenza, Italy.
On his return to Nigeria, he attended Senior Executive Course 45, 2023, of the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos, where he graduated with excellence and became a directing staff of the institute before his posting to head the FCID.
The FCID Annex Enugu covers 11 states within the South-East and South-South geo-political zones.
