The National President of Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Mariya Lagbaja, says projects inaugurated in Enugu show commitment of NAOWA to education and welfare of Nigerians.
The projects inaugurated include: NAOWA College, Enugu and Abakpa Military Cantonment Pre-School (Akara School) Complex.
The NAOWA president distributed 1,000 bags of rice and 1,000 five-litre groundnut oil to residents of the cantonment and 100 bags of rice and 100 five-litre of groundnut oil to teaching and non-teaching staff of NAOWA Group of Schools, Enugu.
The NAOWA boss also donated 100 maternal and baby care kits to pregnant women and nursing mothers and showered twins delivered at about 2p.m. Tuesday (today) at the 82 Division Medical Services and Hospital, Enugu with gifts and prayers.
Addressing the cantonment women after the inaugurations and donations on Tuesday, Lagbaja urged the women to continue to pray for the progress of the nation and her leaders.
She encouraged women living within the cantonment community to continue to support their spouses serving the nation in the Nigerian Army, adding that they should strive to bring up disciplined and God fearing children.
According to her, these projects and the little donations NAOWA made today show how dedicated we are to bring relief and serve our people, the nation and humanity.
“I must appreciate the NAOWA Chairperson of 82 Division, Hajiya Nafeesat Dada, for her efforts in keeping NAOWA flag flying high and putting positive vision meant to transform lives within the cantonment in Enugu.
“I commend the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Division, Maj.-Gen. Hassan Dada, for the enormous support given to NAOWA projects and initiatives to blossom within the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AoR).
“I thank our NAOWA chapter members in Enugu for always being there; their dedication, sacrifice and service remains exemplary.
“I also laud our teachers in NAOWA Group of Schools, Enugu for their commitment to take care of our children all these years.
“Thank you our great teachers for your remarkable impact on the children,” Lagbaja, who is the wife of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, said.
Responding, Dada said that the quest to execute the projects and initiate humanitarian palliatives aligns with the NAOWA President’s vision and nature of exemplary kindness.
The Division NAOWA chapter chairperson said that projects and initiatives were meant to give Nigerian Army personnel and their families in the cantonment as well as Nigerians living in Enugu the best services and care.
“NAOWA projects, services and initiatives have been extended beyond the cantonment community to touch the wider society and the less privileged.
“We have also supported and donated generously to the Nigerian Red Cross Motherless Babies Home and for other humanitarian needs of the organization,” she said.
Dada appreciated the COAS for his fatherly support to 82 Division as well as the President of NAOWA for continuous support to NAOWA projects and initiatives within Enugu and the entire Division’s general area.
She thanked her husband, the GOC of the Division, for his commitment to see that NAOWA projects and initiatives turn out a huge success.
Recall that Lagbaja had earlier paid a courtesy visit on the 82 Division GOC, Maj.- Gen. Hassan Dada, on arrival on Monday in his office in Enugu.
Lagbaja, during the visit, thanked the GOC for the giant strides NAOWA has been making within the Division and for his commitment to ensuring that the Division prioritised NAOWA projects and initiatives.
