The Chairman of Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM. Igwe Ikechukwu Asadu, has urged Chief Jude Asogwa the Chairman-elect for Nsukka Local Government Area and other elected chairmen in Enugu State on September 21 to see their election victories as call to service.
Asadu, the Traditional Ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in Nsukka LGA, gave the advice in a statement in Nsukka, while congratulating elected Local Government Chairmen in Enugu State on their victories.
He said Asogwa’s victory in Nsukka LG reflected the wish and confidence of the people of Nsukka LG on him.
Asadu urged the chairman-elect to ensure significant progress in his administration that would have positive impacts on Nsukka people especially the rural dwellers.
The monarch extended his congratulations to other winners, who also emerged as chairmen and counselors in their respective local government areas and wards.
Asadu further commended Governor Peter Mbah for providing and ensuring an enabling environment that made the election successful.
He highlighted the governor’s commitment in human-oriented governance and development as key factors that contributed to the overall success of the elections, as well victory for PDP.
“On behalf of my Royal Family, and the good people of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom, I congratulate Asogwa on his well-deserved victory in the just concluded Enugu State Council election, as the Chairman-elect of Nsukka Local Government Area, under the platform of PDP.
“This remarkable election victory reflects the trust and the confidence of the people reposed in him.
“I congratulate also other elected chairmen and councilors who emerged victorious across various Local Government Areas and wards.
“Their success is a reflection of their strong relationship with their communities and a clear mandate to lead with integrity and service,” he said.
“The Chairman of traditional rulers Council commended Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission for conducting a peaceful and transparent election that upheld the principles of fairness and credibility.
“This election has strengthened democracy at the grassroots level in Enugu State,” he said.
Asadu in a special way applauded Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for his quality leadership and support of democratic institutions in the state.
“Gov Mbah commitment to fostering good governance and sustainable development remains evident in the peaceful, smooth, and transparent conduct of the council elections.
“The success of the election is a positive indication of a brighter future for the local governments in Enugu State.
“I commend Gov Mbah for providing and ensuring an enabling environment that made the election successful and peaceful.
“It’s the governor’s commitment in human-oriented governance and strong belief in democracy that are key factors that contributed to the overall success of the election, as well as victory for PDP,” Asadu added.
It would be recalled that the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission had, on Sunday, declared the results of the local government council elections held on Saturday, September 21.
