Director General of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has lauded the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to cushion the biting effects of economic hardship on Nigerians.
This is as he has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the President as he makes efforts to address the challenges of the country.
The NOA boss who spoke at a press
conference in Umuahia, Abia State, during a sensitisation on national anthem and national value charter, solicited the support of Nigerians for Tinubu’s administration.
He identified some of the policies of the President towards mitigating the sufferings of the masses to include: Students Loan Scheme aimed at supporting the education of indigent undergraduates; Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative; and monthly Conditional Cash Transfer of N25,000 to 15 million vulnerable families.
Others include: N50 billion conditional grants to 1 million nano businesses; N75 billion fund to support manufacturing enterprises; establishment of Infrastructure Support Fund for states; defraying of legacy debts owed gas companies to ensure efficient gas supply.
The NOA DG who was represented by the Director, Public Enlightenment, Mrs Theresa Maduekwe, also lauded Tinubu for the launch of dry season farming projects involving 118,651 hectares in 15 states.
He further explained that the decision of the agency to establish National Values Brigade, was to help raise model citizens among Nigeria children as ambassadors of value.
The bridge, according to him, is a replacement of War Against Indiscipline (WAI), which is a creation of the military.
He also said that Citizenship study should be made compulsory in all primary and secondary schools to help inculcate national values in pupils and students at a young age.
Contributing, the Abia State Director of NOA, Mrs Regina Iroha, said the various efforts of Government to address the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy, were beginning to have positive impacts.
She appealed to Nigerians to be patient and cooperate with Government for a better society.
