Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led Government in Anambra State has approved tax exemptions for small business owners in the state.
The decision was made during the 35th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting, Tuesday.
According to the council, small business owners with capital less than N100,000 will be eligible for tax exemptions. The move, Ikengaonline gathered, is aimed at supporting the growth of small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in the state.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo emphasised the importance of supporting SMEs, stating that they are crucial to the state’s economic development.
The governor also encouraged investors to take over the management of public enterprises in the state, citing that leasing and concessioning are better alternatives to direct government management.
Other key decisions made during the meeting include the approval of contracts for various projects, such as the rehabilitation of the vandalised injection substation at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus, and the provision of free internet access to the Anambra State House of Assembly Complex, Awka.
The council also approved the devolution of more powers to local governments in the state, particularly in the area of sanitation to enhance the overall cleanliness and health of the state.
