The government of the United Kingdom has expressed commitment to partnering Enugu State on critical areas of socio-economic development.
UK Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Miss Gill Lever said this when she paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, at the government house Enugu.
Miss Lever was in Enugu on a one-day working visit to explore areas of possible partnership with the state government.
The high commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of infrastructural development in the state, noting that the state government would support the state on its digital programmes especially the training of civil servants on digital skills and innovations.
Responding, Governor Mbah, expressed profound gratitude to the commonwealth and development office for supporting the state government to train over 500 civil servants on digital access.
He said that his administration was at the verge of transitioning from the manual ways of doing things to digital.
Mbah noted that the state government had established an e-governance portal to encourage the running of a paperless government in order to perform optimally and enhance the quality of services, which his administration had continued to provide.
He said that his administration had become more accountable to the people of the state as the state can now capture its revenue accurately and curb the incidences of revenue leakages.
The UK Deputy High Commissioner later inspected and witnessed the graduation ceremony of over 500 civil servants trained on digital skills at old government lodge Enugu.
