Former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu and the incumbent Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; has visited Gov. Alex Otti with a team from China, a fortune 500 Chinese Government-owned company.
The former Governor said he came to pay homage to Gov. Otti as the father of the state, and present the team from China Power to explore opportunities for possible collaboration with the State Government.
Kalu thanked Governor Otti for receiving him on a very short notice and always keeping his doors open for him.
He introduced the team from China Power to the Governor and his team for possible collaboration in the development of Abia’s power sector and other areas of interest.
China Power built the 1.5 billion dollar Shiroro Dam for the Federal Government.
They indicated interest in collaborating with the Abia State Government in the development of the Power Sector, Construction, and survey/extraction of solid minerals and gas.
Responding, Otti thanked Senator Kalu for always finding time to visit and encourage him despite being in a different political party.
Otti reiterated his stance that “after campaigns, elections, and litigation are over, governance takes center stage,” hence the need for stakeholders to close ranks to ensure that dividends of democracy get to the people.
He emphasised that the welfare of the people remains the top priority of his administration.
Earlier, Governor Otti met with Eke Urum Eke and Eleanya Urun Eke, who came with a proposal to establish a textile and garment factory in Abia State.
The two young entrepreneurs from Abiriba in Ohafia Local Government Area, demonstrated in-depth knowledge of what they want to do and how they want to do it.
They commended Governor Otti for his giant developmental strides and transformation of Abia State and assured the Governor of their commitment to use their network of contacts around the globe to attract investors to the proposed textile ecosystem.
The team from China Power was led by the Vice President of China Power/Sinohydro West/Central Africa, Tino Dong, Senior Consultant with China Power, Yuan Zhang, Feng Zheng of China Power Financial Department and the Marketing Director, Wantei Cao.
