The Anambra State Police Command has said investigation has begun into the murder of a pregnant woman in the state.
Ikengaonline reports that the woman’s body was found hanging on a cashew tree along the Uke/Ideani road in Idemmili North Local Government Area.
A release by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said Police in the state have begun investigation into the death.
Ikenga said the Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has called on stakeholders in the area to provide relevant Information to unravel those behind the murder.
“The incident is unfortunate and a stark example of man’s inhumanity to man. We are determined to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. We need the public’s help to achieve this.
“We urge members of the public to come forward with any information that may help identify the deceased and the perpetrators of this heinous crime.”
“The police operatives from Ogidi Police Division have recovered the body and deposited it in the mortuary. We are appealing to anyone with information about the deceased to please come forward and assist us with the investigation. We will ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” Ikenga said.
He said the CP has assured the public that further developments will be communicated accordingly as the investigation continues.
