The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday inaugurated its new National Working Committee (NWC), with newly elected National Chairman, Senator David Mark, pledging a bold new vision anchored on transparency, unity, youth inclusion, and ideological clarity.
In his inaugural speech at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, Senator Mark paid glowing tribute to the outgoing leadership of Hon. Ralph Nwosu, whom he described as a patriotic trailblazer whose years of sacrifice laid the foundation for the party’s current structure and aspirations.
“I wish to acknowledge the hard work, patriotism, sacrifices and dedication of Hon. Ralph Nwosu and his team who over the years built this party and are relinquishing leadership to our team in the interest of this country,” Mark stated.
The former Senate President emphasized that the new leadership would usher in an era of internal democracy, collective leadership, and full accountability. He pledged to eliminate imposition and privilege-based politics, promising a transparent and inclusive system at all levels of the party.
“Under my leadership, we shall be committed to full democratic practices and principles that abhor imposition and special privileges,” he said.
“Internal democracy, transparency and accountability will be our mantra.”
He announced that the new NWC would immediately commence the revamp of the party’s grassroots structures, from polling units up to the national level, to reflect current political realities and improve capacity. Senator Mark also stressed the importance of inclusivity, revealing that 35% of ADC’s leadership positions have been reserved for women, while young people under the age of 40 would be actively integrated into leadership roles.
The new chairman disclosed plans to establish a 50-member policy committee tasked with formulating concrete proposals on critical national sectors such as health, education, agriculture, economy, infrastructure, and security. According to him, this move is part of the party’s commitment to defining a distinct, people-oriented ideology that goes beyond personal political ambition.
“Nigerians must know us as a party driven by unblemished ideology, progressive policies, and patriotic governance,” Mark asserted.
Senator Mark also called on Nigerians across all walks of life to join the ADC, which he described as the only political platform that guarantees fairness, equity, and national unity.
“ADC is the only party that guarantees equal opportunity to everyone regardless of age, gender, religion or region. Our handshake is across all divides.”
The inauguration signals a significant leadership transition in ADC and marks the beginning of a new strategic phase aimed at repositioning the party as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
