The Federal Government has restated its commitment to completing Section Three of the 61-kilometre Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway in Enugu State within schedule.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the pledge on Thursday during an inspection visit to the project site as part of a wider Citizens’ Engagement tour of the South-East.
Idris emphasised that modern road infrastructure is key to economic growth, enhanced safety, and improved welfare for Nigerians.
“This project is a visible testament to government’s resolve to complete strategic highways nationwide for the benefit of Nigerians,” he said.
The dual carriageway, covering a total of 122 kilometres, is being constructed by CGC Nigeria Limited at a cost of ₦100.8 billion. According to the Director of Highways, Southeast, Engineer Tony Mbiko, the Enugu-bound section has been completed, while work continues on the remaining stretch.
The project forms part of the government’s broader infrastructure development plan aimed at boosting trade, easing transportation, and connecting major economic hubs in the country.
