The Enugu State Police Command says it has arrested three armed robbery suspects who had been terrorising residents in parts of the state.
Police spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement issued in Enugu, attributing the arrests to the command’s ongoing clampdown on criminal activities.
According to him, the suspects include 28-year-old Okafor Chukwuka, who was apprehended at Nara, Agbani Division, Nkanu West Local Government Area, for snatching a motorcycle at gunpoint.
He added that Emeka Odo, 45, and Ugochukwu Eze, 35, were arrested at Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area, for allegedly robbing a motorcyclist.
Ndukwe explained: “In the early hours of August 20, 2025, police operatives attached to the Command’s Agbani Area Command, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Okafor Chukwuka (male, aged 28), and recovered a locally made double-barrel gun from him. Preliminary investigations linked the suspect to an armed robbery incident that occurred in Nara Unataeze, Nkanu East LGA, about two weeks earlier, during which a motorcycle was snatched at gunpoint.”
He continued: “Similarly, on August 18, 2025, at about 9:00 a.m., operatives attached to Udenu Police Division arrested two male suspects — Emeka Odo (aged 45) and Ugochukwu Eze (aged 35) — at Obollo-Afor, Udenu LGA. During interrogation, Odo confessed that he and an accomplice, currently at large, had on August 7, 2025, at about 8:30 p.m., robbed a motorcyclist of his motorcycle and later contacted Eze to purchase the stolen property.”
The police further recovered several items from the suspects, including: one stolen motorcycle; a locally fabricated cut-to-size gun; one live cartridge; one battle axe; a cutlass; three solar panels; one solar battery; one solar light; an object suspected to be a charm.
Ndukwe stated that the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
