A philanthropist from Awka, Anambra State, Ambassador Prosper Chukwuka, has been conferred with the title of Eze Omeiheukwu Ndị Igbo Gburugburu II (Worldwide) and Deputy President Ambassador for Peace Worldwide.
The honour, bestowed during a colourful ceremony at Dr. Ramas Estate, Agu Ukwu Nri ancient kingdom, recognized Chukwuka’s consistent humanitarian efforts, particularly his support for the less privileged, prisoners, and orphans.
Reports indicate that between January and September 2025 alone, Chukwuka facilitated the release of over 500 inmates in Nigeria and abroad. His foundation also supports indigent students, business startups, and other initiatives aimed at improving lives.
Conferring the title, Dr. Ramas Okoye Asuzu (Eze Oba)—Custodian of Igbo Culture and President of the Foundation for World Peace and Cultural Re-orientation—praised Chukwuka for his uncommon compassion and dedication to humanity.
“I’ve given awards to many people, including Mike Okiro and others, but this one is special,” Dr. Asuzu said.
“I decided to honour our son because he has proven to be a man of good deeds.”
He added: “As Custodian of Igbo Culture and International President of the Foundation for World Peace, I’m constantly observing people online. I noticed this young man frequently securing the release of prisoners across Nigeria. Such philanthropy is rare among our young Igbo men, many of whom focus instead on extravagant spending.
“I decided to ensure Ndigbo recognize his good works. After consultations, we conferred on him the title of Eze Omeiheukwu Ndigbo Gburugburu and Deputy Ambassador of Peace, empowering him to continue doing God’s work. I wanted to celebrate him while he’s still alive.”
Dr. Asuzu, however, cautioned the new titleholder to maintain integrity and avoid using his influence to exploit or intimidate others.
Adaigbo Chika Chukwura, a Cultural Ambassador of Igboland, who helped bring Chukwuka’s deeds to the attention of Eze Oba, commended him and urged him to remain humble and steadfast in his mission.
Beaming with gratitude, Ambassador Chukwuka, a native of Umudiaba village in Nkwelle, Awka, said the recognition would further inspire him to serve humanity.
“I’m excited because it shows my work is appreciated. I’ve received several titles before, but this is unique,” he said.
He recalled that on November 10, 2023, he was conferred with the title Eze Omeifeukwu Eze Igbo Gburugburu after helping to free several inmates. His other titles include Chief Akubuike, Double Chief Obata Obie, High Chief Ego Bu Oga, Onapurudike Egbe N’Iru Ogu, and Ogbuagu, among others.
Explaining why he focuses on prisoners, Chukwuka said: “I release prisoners because they are the most helpless after the dead. They are half-dead—cut off from family and society. Releasing them is like saving a life. Afterward, I counsel them to live responsibly.”
He added that his new role as Deputy President Ambassador for Peace Worldwide would motivate him to intensify peace advocacy globally. He also urged wealthy young Igbo entrepreneurs to invest in empowering others and alleviating hardship.
The colourful event, which turned into a carnival, attracted prominent traditional rulers and dignitaries from Nri Kingdom and Awka, drawing attention to the plight of prisoners and the need for greater social compassion.
