No fewer than 494 irregular Nigerian migrants have been arrested by police in Ghana, Ikengaonline reports.
Also arrested during a raid in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region of Ghana were 13 Burkina Faso nationals.
According to police sources, the operation was sequel to increasing criminal and fraud related activities in the area.
The affected foreign nationals were said to have entered Ghana through unapproved routes in the northern parts of the country.
The Ghana police said that the affected persons would be repatriated to their respective countries.
Meanwhile, Ghana Police statement on Twitter, said that the irregular migrants would be profiled to know if they were part of inmates that escaped from jail when hoodlums invaded a custodial centre in Nigeria.
Police officials also warned the general public, especially, landlords against offering accommodation to foreigners whose residential status where unknown.
