President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of the embattled Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji.
Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, tendered his resignation on Monday following allegations reportedly levelled against him.
In his resignation letter, the former minister expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the nation, stating that he had become a target of political blackmail.
“Certain political opponents have continued to malign my reputation for selfish reasons, and I have decided to step aside to protect the integrity of your administration,” Nnaji was quoted as saying.
Accepting his resignation, President Tinubu thanked the former minister for his contributions to national development and wished him success in his future endeavours.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu thanks Geoffrey Uche Nnaji for his service to the nation and wishes him well in his future endeavours,” the statement read in part.
