Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have recovered a MAN Diesel truck reportedly stolen from Benin City, Edo State.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Enugu.
According to him, the vehicle, which was stolen around 12:05 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, was recovered at about 6:30 a.m. the same day by police operatives attached to the Ozalla Division and the Distress Response Squad (DRS) at Agbani, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Ndukwe said the recovery followed a swift response to a distress call received from the Command’s Control Room.
“On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums abandoned the truck and fled into the bush. Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects,” he stated.
He added that the recovered truck has been secured for further investigation.
Ndukwe further quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Giwa, as commending the operatives for their prompt and coordinated response, describing the recovery as a testament to the Command’s proactive policing strategy.
The Commissioner, he said, urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s dedicated hotlines.
“The CP reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining public safety and tackling interstate criminal activities across Enugu and its neighbouring states,” the statement added.
