…Say party ‘bleeding to death’
Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia
Former Abia State Secretary to the Government and PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) member, Dr. Eme Okoro, has described the opposition party as “bleeding to death,” insisting that Senator Adolphus Wabara remains the authentic BoT Chairman.
Reacting to reports of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa’s emergence as factional BoT Chair, Okoro expressed shock that his long-time ally joined what he called “a factional charade” without consultation.
He blamed the crisis on selfishness, injustice, and lack of discipline, saying: “When PDP failed to apply equity, crisis developed and has been sustained by those who created it.”
Okoro condemned the alleged inauguration of a parallel BoT in a private residence, describing it as illegal and warning that “PDP is bleeding to death, and when it dies, people like me will move on.”
Similarly, former Abia Commissioner, Chief James Okpara, dismissed the purported removal of Wabara and PDP National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, as “a joke taken too far.”
He urged members to ignore “jesters meeting in someone’s private home,” insisting any decision taken outside the party’s constitution is null and void.
Okpara called on party faithful to remain united and support the National Working Committee, describing attempts to frustrate the forthcoming National Convention as “unpatriotic and illegal.”
“It’s more honourable to quit the party than become a mole for the ruling APC,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to rebuilding the PDP.
