Former Anambra State Commissioner for Information, C-Don Adinuba, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media alleging the death of former Governor Willie Obiano.
Adinuba, in a telephone interview on Friday, described the report as “provocative” and “unfounded,” stressing that Obiano is “hale and hearty” and currently in Houston, Texas, where he resides.
“I just spoke with former Governor Obiano and members of his family minutes ago,” he said.
“Contrary to the report, he is not in London, has not been hospitalised, and is very much alive. The rumour did not emanate from any credible platform.”
He urged the public to disregard the false report.
Similarly, Obiano’s personal publicist, Tony Nezianya, told our correspondent he had not received any such information.
“I can’t confirm that; I’m not aware of any such news,” he said.
Obiano, who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022 before handing over to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, hails from Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area. Born on August 8, 1955, he is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N4 billion fraud.
