A building under construction at the Queen Elizabeth Specialist Hospital also known as Federal Medical Centre, Umuahiain Abia State has collapsed.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Azubuike Onyebuchi, said that the incident happened early hours of Monday.
Onyebuchi said that the incident did not record any casualties, adding that he expected the contractor and site supervisor to explain what caused the collapse of the building .
He said that the affected section of the new ultra modern building was meant to house the Accident and Emergency Section of the hospital.
Meanwhile, a cross section of members of the public has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, adding that the contractor should present the integrity and soil test results conducted prior to the commencement of the project.
