Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved the appointment of Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel as the new Head Coach of Enyimba International Football Club, Aba.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the appointment is part of the government’s renewed commitment to reposition Enyimba FC, Nigeria’s most decorated football club, for a return to glory both domestically and on the African continent.
Enyimba International Football Club, a two-time CAF Champions League winner and multiple Nigerian league champion, has long been one of Abia State’s strongest sporting brands, projecting the state’s image across Africa and inspiring generations of football fans and players.
However, the club has in recent years fallen short of its traditional standards of excellence.
Governor Otti’s administration, according to the statement, is determined to restore Enyimba to its pride of place as a dominant force in Nigerian and African football, while also entrenching professionalism, sustainability, and sound corporate governance in the management of the club.
The government said the appointment is a strategic move aimed at revitalising the club’s technical department, improving its competitive strength, and laying a solid foundation for long-term success.
Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel is an experienced football tactician with CAF A, B, and C coaching licences.
He has previously served as Technical Adviser and Head Coach with reputable clubs in Nigeria and Cameroon, where he recorded notable successes.
His achievements include winning the Nigeria National League (NNL) Best Coach Award in 2025.
Governor Otti expressed confidence that the coach’s wealth of experience, technical expertise, and professional discipline will play a critical role in Enyimba’s rebuilding process and help restore the club to its rightful status as a powerhouse in Nigerian and African football.
