The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, according to a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.
He congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, urging them to sustain the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance and sacrifice imbibed during the fasting period.
Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to use the festive period to offer prayers for the continued peace, unity and prosperity of the country.
The minister further encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend acts of kindness to the less privileged in society.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
