Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to unlocking the full economic potential of the state, declaring that Abia is open and ready for serious investors.
Governor Otti made the declaration while receiving a delegation of Zenco Group, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Chief Cletus Oragwa, who visited the state to explore investment opportunities.
The governor said his administration was deliberately focused on creating a business-friendly environment capable of attracting both local and foreign investments.
“We are very open to business and very hungry to see the full potential of Abia State harnessed,” Otti stated.
According to him, the state is richly endowed with human and natural resources, noting that Abians are known for their industrious and entrepreneurial spirit.
He explained that ongoing reforms and infrastructure development were targeted at changing the narrative and positioning Abia as a preferred destination for investment, manufacturing, and enterprise.
Otti disclosed that Presco Plc had already committed about $200 million in investments in the state over the next few years, adding that more investors were indicating interest in Abia.
“Our responsibility is to continue to make the environment conducive for businesses to thrive,” he added.
The governor commended Chief Oragwa for considering a return to invest in Abia, recalling that the businessman had previously operated in the state before relocating due to past challenges.
In his remarks, Chief Oragwa acknowledged the visible improvements in infrastructure and security under the current administration, noting that Abia had become increasingly attractive to investors.
He said he was familiar with the state’s past business climate but expressed confidence in the ongoing transformation, declaring his readiness to reinvest.
Speaking, a member of the delegation, Mr. Simon Oshi, praised the infrastructural strides of the administration, particularly in Aba, describing the state as an emerging investment hub.
The meeting was attended by top government officials, including the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, and the Senior Special Assistant on Transport, Dr. Obioma Nwaogbe.
The visit signals growing investor confidence in Abia as the state government intensifies efforts to reposition the economy for sustainable growth.
