In a strong show of unity, traditional rulers in Abia State have unanimously thrown their weight behind Governor Alex Otti, endorsing him for a second term ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement came after a closed-door meeting between the governor and members of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA.
Chairman of the council, Eze Dr. Linus Nto Mbah, said the royal fathers took the decision after reviewing the governor’s performance, which he described as transformative across key sectors.
Declaring total support, Eze Mbah said the traditional institution would mobilise backing for Otti’s re-election, insisting that the governor deserves to complete an eight-year tenure, like his predecessors.
“We are solidly behind him. Come 2027, traditional rulers will stand firm to ensure his re-election,” he said.
He cited ongoing road projects, improved security, and visible development strides as evidence of what he called “monumental achievements” under the current administration.
Also present at the meeting were the 1st Deputy Chairman, Eze Nelson Nmerengwa; the 2nd Deputy Chairman, Eze Franklyn Nwosu; and the 3rd Deputy Chairman, Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu, alongside other council members.
