The Nigerian Army’s 14 Brigade has reaffirmed its commitment to inter-agency collaboration as part of efforts to tackle rising security challenges in Abia State.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Ahmad Mansur Dikko, gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command, Commandant Chukwuemeka Nicholson Odimba, during a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of 14 Brigade at Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, Ohafia.
In a statement by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Muyiwa Ayara, the visit was described as a strategic move to deepen cooperation between security agencies in the state.
Speaking during the visit, the NSCDC Commandant identified the Nigerian Army as a critical partner in the Corps’ operations, noting increasing security concerns such as land disputes, illegal mining, and communal clashes. He called for sustained collaboration to effectively address these challenges.
In response, Brigadier General Dikko commended the professionalism of NSCDC personnel and pledged continued support, including operational backup and logistics where necessary.
He, however, clarified that the Army does not directly engage in civil matters such as land and chieftaincy disputes, but provides support to relevant agencies.
The Commander also praised the NSCDC’s role in joint operations, particularly cordon-and-search exercises, and urged continued synergy among security stakeholders.
He assured that Brigade units and Operation CRUSH elements remain on standby to provide timely assistance, reiterating the Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Abia State.
