The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Anglican Communion, Most Revd. Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim, has said that Nigerians are currently operating in a country that its system had collapsed.
The Anglican Prelate made the assertion, while fielding questions from journalists in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
He said the governance systems in the country had lost its shape and that “people are currently passing through all manner of sufferings and hardship to survive.
“We are passing through a time where many people are asking if Nigeria can survive as a nation and if the eastern region can survive the current insecurity.
“Many families are losing hope and mothers are no longer comfortable in their homes. Husbands are now ashamed that they can no longer provide for their families.
“So many institutions have collapsed. Today, ASUU is no longer operational because they are on strike. That is to say we are operating in a society whose system has almost collapsed and whose political class seem not to have the answer.”
In his Easter message to Christians entitled: “This Mountain Shall Be Removed,” Ibezim who doubles as the Bishop of Awka Diocese urged Christians not to relent in faith, but believe that God could remove mountains that are barriers to their lives and relationship with Christ.
“We are like people in captivity but God, through this Easter is giving us a message of hope. God told Zachariah to tell his people that the mountain shall become plain.
“Jesus defeated death. When He was nailed to the cross, all our sins, sicknesses, sufferings and challenges were nailed to the cross and we are set free,” he said.
