It must be a nightmarish dilemma for President Buhari to settle for one person out of the medley that have so far declared or indicated interest in flying APC’S flag in the upcoming Presidential election.
Look at it this way:
Should he settle for Bola Tinubu, a man who is weighed down by hefty corruption baggage but on alliance with his political structure, Buhari rode to success in 2015 after several misses in the past…
Or Yemi Osibanjo, his dutiful Vice President who is seen by many as highly pretentious and currently rocked by weighty allegations of religious fundamentalism and cronyism as levelled by one fellow, and betrayal by another…
Or Rotimi Amaechi, a serving Minister in his cabinet who was also his two-time Campaign Director but whose competence and emotional intelligence are in doubt. His widely reported insensitivity and bad handling of the horrible Kaduna train attack may not be lost on the President.
Or Dave Umahi, the well-rated current Governor of Ebonyi State, a recent decampee to the APC whose desperation and readiness to throw his own people under the bus to achieve personal interests rankles…
Or Yahaya Bello, the grossly under-performing Governor of Kogi State whose entrance into the race provokes nothing but derision owing to his incompetence, naivety and avarice.
Or Godwin Emefiele, the not-so spectacular serving Central Bank Governor whose name has been bandied of late as an interested party despite the incredulity of playing partisan politics…
And so, the medley goes on and on, making it quite a difficult task for President Buhari to throw in his support for any one of them. But head or tail, he must ultimately support one person.
So, if you are in his shoes, what will you do; who will you support?
