Barely two weeks after an explosion occurred in Abaezi community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, killing over a hundred and ten persons, on Wednesday, another explosion occurred around an oil flow station managed by Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria Limited.
Ikengaonline gathered the incident happened at Izombe, Oguta LGA.
The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Michael Abattam, confirmed the explosion and the killing of two persons in it.
“The two people were the ones carrying the bomb to destroy the oil facility and on their way the bomb exploded and killed them,” he said.
In a separate incident, a police officer whose identity was given as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ukam Efrat, was killed on Tuesday.
Also confirming the killing, the Imo Police Command, said the officer died during a shoot-out with hoodlums.
The incident according to the police happened at a security checkpoint in Agwa in Oguta LGA.
However, the police said two of the hoodlums were also killed during the gun battle that lasted for some hours.
“There was a distress call. We mobilised to the area and the hoodlums engaged the police officers, in the process two of the hoodlums were killed,” the Police said.
