The Adventist Men Organisation (AMO), Abia North-Central Conference (ABNC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Wednesday provided free medicare to no fewer than 50 students of School for the Blind, Umuahia.
Ikengaonline reports that the school located in Afaraukwu, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State takes care of the education needs of students with various degrees of visual impairment, including blindness.
The AMO Director in the Conference, Elder Rex Uwakwe, said that the gesture was a deliberate effort by the organisation to touch on the physical and spiritual needs of the students.
Uwakwe said that the visit to the school was part of activities to mark the AMO Impact Day programme.
He said that the programme was set aside by the organisation to fete the less privileged, share gifts, pray with them and reassure them of the love of God.
The director said that the Seventh-day Adventist Church was a mission-driven organisation that prioritised spiritual well-being as well as the materials needs of the people.
He assured the students that God was aware of their circumstances, adding that they would never be abandoned.
Also, the AMO Director in South-East and South-South Nigeria, Elder Sampson Agomuo, said that the essence of the visit was to interact with the students and offer them free medicare.
Agomuo said that the organisation would also donate some food items to the students.
Furthermore , the ABNC Evangelism Director, Pastor Godwin Oden charged the students not to loose hope no matter what life threw at them.
According to Oden, there is still hope in a world filled with hopelessness and sorrow as nothing remains the same forever.
The cleric told the students that God was capable of restoring and redefining their condition just as He was capable of doing for others.
Responding, the Principal of the school, Mrs Ngozi Olugu appreciated the gesture exhibited by the organisation .
Ikengaonline further reports that the AMO donated to the students, food and other items including bags of rice, salt, packs of toilet tissues, cartons of noodles and detergents, vegetable oil, fairly used clothes and others.
