This is following the rescue of the last of the siblings at Warri in Delta State. The people of the community have been at war over chieftaincy stool. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Coalition of Civil Society Networks on AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (ATM Networks), has called on the Anambra State Government to invest in disease control, eradication, and other evidence-based intervention programmes to boost healthcare delivery in the state. The group urged the government to turn around and key into some of the relevant programmes in the state rather than rely on foreign donors and partners to drive away diseases and other healthcare burdens of the people. Ben Ezechime, Enugu The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Enugu Sector Command, says it has deployed no fewer than 701 personnel for its Eid-El-Kabir Special Patrol to ensure free flow of traffic within road corridors in the state. The Sector Commander of FRSC Enugu State Command, Mr Adeyemi Sokunbi, disclosed this during a press briefing on the address by the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, on Eid-El-Kabir Special Patrol in Enugu. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia In a bid to mitigate the impacts of flood disaster through proactive measures, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has commenced sensitisation of communities in Abia State on flood early warning strategies for early actions. This is coming on the heels of earlier warning that 11 out of 17 Local Government Areas in Abia State, are on the high and moderate risk areas of flooding between July and September this year. Ben Ezechime, Enugu Professor Joy Ezeilo, Founder of Women Aid Collective (WACOL), has condemned herders’ gang rape of a 13-year-old girl in Aku community of Enugu State and the killing of Mr. Emma Nnadi, who tried to rescue the victim.
