Our Reporter, Abuja The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the September 2024 Edo State election, Asue Ighodalo, has strongly disagreed with the Supreme Court’s verdict affirming the election of Governor Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a tragic validation of electoral injustice. In a passionate statement issued shortly after the Supreme Court’s judgment on Thursday, Ighodalo acknowledged the finality of the ruling but questioned its fairness, saying it did not represent justice. “Though I accept the finality of judgment, I do not and cannot pretend that what was delivered amounted to justice,” Ighodalo…
Our Reporter, Abuja The Supreme Court, Thursday, upheld the election of Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, dismissing the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asuerinme Ighodalo, for lacking merit. By Promise Adiele Nigeria’s political atmosphere is saturated by a type of fever which lacks any suitable nomenclature. Those at the centre of the current situation in the country are politicians from both old and new dispensations, economic and political interest seekers, and many self-centred, egocentric individuals whose ambitions are far removed from the interest of the masses. Surely, there is a fierce battle for the soul of Nigeria. While APC has amassed a good portion of the soul of the country, ADC postures to save the country. Unfortunately, those who should know better – the intelligentsia – have joined…
